Three reports show three different conversion numbers for the same month. That alone does not mean your tracking is broken. Google itself says differences between Google Ads and Analytics are common and can occur even with a correct setup.
So stop asking which tool is right. Each one counts something different, on a different date, under different rules. Your job is to line those rules up, explain what you can, and write down what stays unexplained. Then pick a number based on the question you are answering.
Lock one definition before you compare anything
Definition gaps are the ones you can actually fix, so start here. Choose one action, such as a completed purchase, and find its exact counterpart in each tool.
Check three things:
- What sits in the column. In Google Ads, primary actions appear in the "Conversions" column, and secondary actions appear only in "All conversions". A primary newsletter sign-up inflates a number you may be reading as sales.
- How repeats count. Google Ads can count every conversion or only one per ad click. Two forms from the same click can show as 1 in Ads and 2 in GA4.
- Where the number lives. A GA4 key event (GA4's name for an event you mark as important) is not the same object as a conversion. Google notes that Google Ads conversions do not appear in standard GA4 reports, and that credited channels, lookback and counting method can differ between the two.
